Terms of Service

By accessing or using NowIRead (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and NowIRead, Inc.

NowIRead offers the following account types:

• Student: Paid subscription ($100/year). Students aged 18 and older may create their own accounts. Students under 18 must be added by a parent or teacher.
• Freelance Reader: Paid subscription ($100/year). Available to individuals aged 18 and older who wish to use NowIRead independently without parent or teacher oversight.
• Parent: Free account. Parents can link to their children’s accounts, approve books, set custom rewards, and communicate with teachers.
• Teacher: Free account. Teachers can manage classroom rosters, track student progress, approve books, and communicate with parents.

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Children under 18 cannot create accounts independently. A parent, legal guardian, or authorized teacher must create and manage the child’s account.

For children under 13, we require verifiable parental consent in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) before the child can access the platform. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we protect children’s data.

Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring their child’s use of the Service and can manage or delete their child’s account at any time.

Pricing: Student and Freelance Reader accounts require a paid subscription. A free reading assessment is available to all users. Parent accounts are free with optional paid plans (7-day trial). Teacher Pro includes a 30-day free trial.

Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring annual basis until you cancel.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price change takes effect for their account.

NowIRead may offer promotional coupon codes from time to time. Coupon codes are subject to specific terms and expiration dates provided at the time of issuance. Coupon codes cannot be combined, transferred, or redeemed for cash. We reserve the right to modify or cancel any promotion at any time.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Create accounts for fictitious people or misrepresent your identity or role
• Attempt to manipulate the points system, quiz scores, streaks, or leaderboards through fraudulent means
• Share quiz answers or circumvent the comprehension verification system
• Access another user’s account without authorization
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Use automated bots, scrapers, or scripts to interact with the Service
• Upload or transmit harmful content, malware, or any material that is offensive, abusive, or inappropriate for a K-12 educational environment

Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

The NowIRead platform, including its design, logo, text, graphics, software, and all other content, is owned by NowIRead, Inc. and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Book metadata (titles, authors, cover images, descriptions) is sourced from third-party APIs (Google Books, Open Library, Hardcover) and remains the property of their respective owners.

You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., reading notes). By submitting content, you grant NowIRead a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it in connection with providing the Service.

NowIRead uses artificial intelligence to generate comprehension quizzes and personalized book recommendations. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies.

AI-generated quizzes are designed to assess reading comprehension and are not a substitute for professional educational assessment. Quiz questions and book recommendations are generated programmatically and do not represent the views or endorsements of NowIRead, Inc.

We continuously review and improve our AI systems but cannot guarantee that all generated content will be error-free.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NOWIREAD, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to other users, the Service, or NowIRead, Inc.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
